You claim justice & freedom for all
but yet you rape the name
America
and with those very same words
you strike with venomous fangs
the people you “rep”
You attack in the name of America
America
the working earth of my people
Precious land
whose soil has soaked
absorbed
dried up
the blood of innocent people
Used as ink
Inked onto paper
the cruel history of
degradation
imposed on the sons
and daughters of this country
stories written on books & paper
captured on pictures
But NO
I don’t need no pictures
because…
I lived that shit
degraded
segregated
gang affiliated
and broken down with whips
and bricks
and on my back
I carry the very same words
my father
and his father
and his fathers father were beaten with
memories never faded
